Sales Manager – Wholesale Channel
Location: Wide River Winery, Clinton, Iowa or Quad Cities Area

About us. Wide River Winery is the 6th largest winery in Iowa, producing and selling about 85,000 bottles per year. We have three retail tasting rooms, and wholesale team that distributes our wine to more than 120 stores in Eastern Iowa and Western Illinois. We aim to produce excellent wine and provide excellent customer service.
The Sales Manager overseeing the Wholesale Channel is in charge of growing wines sales with 120+ stores that currently carry our wine, and opening new accounts that sell Wide River wine. The Sales Manager safely operates a company-provided vehicle to travel and meet with current and prospective customers, and sometimes make initial wine deliveries. They’re motivated by selling and earning a commission, by managing a lead list, closing deals and responding to colleagues, customers and leads in a timely manner. The Sales Manager is familiar with Wide River wine, and acts as a passionate advocate for the company and product in the marketplace.
About you
- Associate’s Degree or an equivalent combination of education and/ or experience
- Industry related sales experience within the distribution, hospitality or supplier community
- Valid state motor vehicle operator’s license and ability to obtain and maintain auto liability insurance.
- Organize and monitor the sales delivery operation to wholesale customers in Eastern Iowa and Western Illinois.
- Motivated to sell.
- Goal oriented, focused, and assertive individual who needs little direction or supervision
- Promote locally made Iowa wine through education and wine tastings.
- Provide detailed tracking reports of wholesale sales and measure against goals.
- Develop key account relationships that deliver measurable results
- Work with key assigned teams to deliver monthly goals (work-withs, product training samples, etc.)
- Comprehensive understanding of wine and spirits to include regions/varietals, product/ food pairing techniques, basic production, and service
- Ability to adapt and can assist a variety of internal customer groups and varying personality types
- Strong negotiation skills; demonstrate an entrepreneurial spirit
- Ability to create a simple PowerPoint presentation, and email attachments.
- Ability to create and sell innovative ideas
- Ability to work flexible hours which include early morning evenings, and/ or weekends
- Ability to work overnight travel as required
- Ability to participate in business meetings, company initiatives and events upon request
- Perform other job related duties as assigned
Physical Demands
- Physical demands with activity or condition for a considerable amount of time include sitting and typing/keyboarding using a computer and mobile device.
- Physical demands with activity or condition may include occasional to rare amount of time include walking, bending, reaching, standing, and stooping
- May require occasional lifting/lowering, pushing, carrying, or pulling up to 45 lbs
